NYU defeated Case Western 36-12 in the team's opening match and later topped host Chicago 22-16 to capture another UAA title.

"The team wrestled well today. Everyone really stepped up," said Assistant Coach Andrew Butville. "Now we've got our eyes set on the NCAA Regional Tournament in two weeks."

John Messinger, who earned a 16-6 major decision victory over Case's Nick Leez competing at 174 pounds, was named UAA Most Outstanding Wrestler.

"He's been dominant for us all year," continued Butville. "He came through with two big wins for us today."

- In addition to Messinger, who recorded a victory by 4-3 decision against Chicago's Paul Papoutsis, three other NYU wrestlers went 2-0 for the day: Nathan Pike (133), Nick Matthews (149) and Raymond Jazikoff (157).

- Pike won by pin in 5:32 and by forfeit

- Matthews' victories came by forfeit and 5-2 decision.

- Jazikoff produced a technical fall (15-0) and a 9-2 decision.
