The New York University men's basketball team defeated visiting Hunter College 68-52 on Sunday, December 4, at the Sportsplex in Manhattan.
Joe Timmes scored 20 points to lead the Violets to their fourth victory through fives games this season. Hunter fell to 4-3 following the loss.
NYU used a 9-2 run early in the first half to build a 13-5 lead. After the Hawks closed the margin to three, the Violets went on another run and led 29-15. Hunter scored the final six points of the first half and trailed by eight at halftime.
In the second half, Hunter could not close the gap to less than six as the Violets were able to answer all of the Hawks' runs before pulling away late en route to the 16-point win.
"Our defensive effort was great tonight," said Assistant Coach
Taylor Roth. "Coach McSloy put together a great scout and we followed it. We maintained our defensive intensity for 40 minutes tonight."

Ross Udine once again had a productive game offensively, scoring 17 points. Udine has scored in double figures in all five games this season.

Jimmy Martinelli posted the second double-double of his young career. The freshman scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Cameron Moore filled the stat sheet for the Violets, scoring seven points while collecting seven rebounds and dishing out five assists.
"That's what we've come to expect from Cameron," added Roth. "He fills the stat sheet in a variety of ways and makes winning plays on both ends of the court."
- NYU improved to 23-2 all-time against Hunter.
The Violets will return to the court on Tuesday, December 6, when they travel to Harrison, NY, to take on SUNY Purchase College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.
