The New York University women's soccer team defeated Grove City College 1-0 in the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship on Saturday, November 19, in Springfield, MA.
The victory propels the Violets (13-3-5) into the Championship Final against host Springfield College on Sunday.
NYU scored the solitary goal of the game in the 39th minute. Junior
Charlotte Herbertz drew a penalty while dribbling in from the left side of the box. The penalty kick was converted by senior captain
Lexi Clarke to give the Violets the only score of the contest. The goal was Clarke's fifth of the season.

Olivia Braender-Carr missed a pair of close chances by shooting over the bar in the second half, but the Violets held up under late pressure from Grove City to secure the victory.
The Wolverines finished their season with a 17-6 overall record.
"We thought that the girls stepped up their performance in the second half," said Head Coach
Michele Canning. "We just need to make sure that we recover well tonight and come out well for the final tomorrow."
