Box ScoreThe New York University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to The College of New Jersey on Sunday, September 13, in Newark, NJ.
The Violets (2-3) were competing in their second day of competition at the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic after falling 1-0 to host Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.
NYU scored the first goal of the game on
Malcolm Montilus' penalty kick with just 17:23 gone.
However, the Lions (5-0-1) scored just over 11 minutes later and added two more goals in the second half to secure the victory.
"It was clear we had trouble rebounding physically from the tough match yesterday," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "We played a very good team that had much more energy and movement and it was causing us problems. However, we continue to see a great effort from all of the players and we have seen more of how capable each player is."
HIGHLIGHTS:- Violets' rookie goalkeeper
Grant Engel recorded seven saves.
- Montilus led the way with two of NYU's five shots on goal.
-
Idy Watt attempted two shots, one on goal.
The Violets return to action on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30pm when they host New Jersey City University at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
