Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against CMSV

Serapilio-Frank Dominates on the Mound in Game One



The New York University baseball team split a doubleheader against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night, April 8, at MCU Park in Brooklyn. The Violets won the first game 13-1, before falling 16-10 in game two.

Cameron Serapilio-Frank earned his third win of the season on the mound in game one for NYU. The freshman right-hander dominated the Dolphins, allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings.

After CSMV scored the first run of the game, the Violets' offense took over scoring 13 unanswered.

All nine batters in the lineup hit safely in the first game as NYU scored its most runs since a March 10th victory over the University of Rochester. 

In game two, the Dolphins struck first with a run each in the first and second inning before the Violets' offense exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second inning. 

NYU struggled to add runs throughout the final five frames, but still took a 10-6 lead into the final inning of the contest. The Dolphins put 10 runs on the board in the top of the seventh en route to a 16-10 win to clinch the series. 

Game One Highlights:

- Serapilio-Frank struck out a career-high seven CMSV hitters.

- The top three batters in the NYU lineup, Adrian Spitz, Christian Bloom and Jonathan Iaione, each recored two hits.

- Iaione led the squad with three RBIs.

- Six different Violets scored two runs in the game.

Game Two Highlights:

- Spitz led off the game with a single to increase his hitting streak to 10 games. The sophomore also stole two bases and finished the game with three hits. 

- CJ Picerni was 3-for-5 in the loss and scored a team-best two runs 

- All nine Violets in the starting lineup scored a run in the contest.

The Violets will be back at MCU Park on Friday, April 10, for a game against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). First pitch against the Bears is scheduled for 3:00 pm, live stats and video will both be available.
