Softball Drops Two at Drew

Violets Fall 3-2 and 5-1 in Madison, NJ

The New York University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Drew University on Friday, April 10, in Madison, NJ.

After being edged 3-2 in the opener, the Violets (5-19), were defeated 5-1 in the nitecap by the Rangers (5-17). The second games was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to darkness.

NYU took a one-run lead in the top of the third inning of the first game on Kahala Bonsignore's double which plated Rachel Fulton.

However, Drew scored two in the bottom of the frame and one more in the fifth.

The Violets pulled to within one on Natalie Evans' RBI single in the sixth which score Bonsignore, but could not score the equalizer.

In game two, the Violets again got out in front on Molly Webber's RBI groundout in the first.

However, NYU did not score again in the contest.

FIRST-GAME NOTES

- Jacqueline Tremblay went the distance on the hill for the Violets. She allowed six hits and only one run while striking out three,

- Evans finished with two hits and a RBI.

SECOND-GAME NOTES

- Sage Scheiwiller pitched a complete game NYU, allowing three earned runs and striking out two. She also had two hits.

- Webber had two hits in addition to her RBI.

The Violets return to action when they host Baruch College for a twinbill this Sunday, April 12. First pitch at the Bahoshy Softball Complex in the Bronx, NY, is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
