Men's Volleyball Falls to #2 Stevens

Violets Drop to 7-5 This Season



The New York University men's volleyball team, currently ranked #9 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), lost 3-0 to #2 Stevens Institute of Technology in a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match on Wednesday, March 4, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets are now 7-5, 2-1 while the Ducks improved to 15-4, 4-0.


The match lasted three sets and was decided by a score of 25-16, 25-18, 25-18.

The first set was tied 10-10 before the Ducks scored seven of the next eight points and went to a 25-16 win.

The second set saw NYU trailing the entire time. Despite two back-to-back kills from the Violets during Stevens' match point, the Ducks took the set 25-18.

In the final set, with NYU within three points, 16-13, Stevens scored the next five points and the Violets never got their momentum back, losing the set 25-18.


HIGHLIGHTS:

- Nick Benson and Colin LaPorte led NYU with 10 kills each.

Patrick Merrick had a match-high 31 assists for the Violets.

The Violets return to the court next Tuesday, March 10, when they host Rutgers University-Newark at 7:00 PM at the Coles Sports Center.
