Women's Soccer Selected as Top Seed for ECACs

Violets #1 for Metro/Upstate Championship

ECAC Release | ECAC Metro/Upstate Bracket

The New York University women's soccer team has been selected as the #1 overall seed in the upcoming 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Women's Soccer Championship, the organization announced on Monday, November 9.

The Violets (12-5-1, 2-4-1 University Athletic Association) are the top seed of the eight teams participating in the Championship and will face #8 Lehman College in a quarterfinal matchup at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, on Wednesday night, November 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and live stats and video will be available.

The winning team will advance to the Championship semifinal round on Saturday, November 14.

Full First-Round Schedule:
#1 NYU vs. #8 Lehman
#2 Kean University vs. #7 Bard College
#3 Rutgers University-Newark vs. #6 Ramapo College
#4 Stockton University vs. #5 Mount Saint Mary College

As the top seed, the Violets will host the rest of the tournament if they advance. The two semifinal contests would also be at Gaelic Park on Saturday (tentatively scheduled for 11:00 am and 2:00 pm), while the Championship Game is set for Sunday, November 15, at 12:00 pm.

The Violets are competing in the ECAC Championship for the first time since defeating Stockton 3-0 at home for the title on November 13, 2011.

Entering this season's ECAC Championship, the Violets are within reach of a pair of team records. With 12 overall victories to this point, NYU needs two more to tie and three to eclipse the program record of 14 wins set in 2011. Additionally, the Violets would tie the program record for most games played in a season (21) if they advance to the ECAC Championship Game.
