New York University's men's swimming & diving team triumphed over its three opponents at the University of Rochester Invitational, which was held on Friday and Saturday, October 23-24, at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center in Rochester, NY.

The Violets finished ahead of Brandeis University 301-60, Canisius College 261-109 and host Rochester 272-98.

Junior Phillip Kang placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.59), the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.45) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:11.55).

"I was happy to see the team set-up and race well this early in the season," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I think we are in a good place and set up well to swim fast in December."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Tim Kou won the 100-yard breaststroke (59.17) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.11). The sophomore also participated on the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:37.04) along with sophomore Adam Betts, junior captain Daniel Tay and senior Win Htet Oo.

- Junior Max Phillips took first in the 100-yard freestyle (47.48) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.60).

- Junior captain Daniel Tay finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (52.50).

- NYU sophomores contributed heavily to NYU's win. Chad Moody won the 100-yard backstroke (53.31), Austin Palmer won the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.07) and diver Dylan Adler placed third in the one-meter competition with a final score of 229.70.

"Today was a real breakthrough for Dylan," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "He competed very well against a strong field, which included some excellent Division I talent."

The squad will host the NYU Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 6-7, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.
