Violets Take Nine Shots on Goal in the Loss

The New York University women's soccer team dropped a road contest 1-0 at the Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon, September 7, in Hoboken, NJ, in what was the final game of the 2014 Stevens Engineering Cup.

The Ducks (3-1) scored the one and only goal of the match in just the 13th minute and held on for the 1-0 win.

The Violets (2-2) attempted 20 shots, with nine landing on goal, bettering the Ducks in both categories. Sophomore goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg made four saves in the game.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Junior midfielder Lexi Clarke led NYU in both shots (5) and shots on goal (3).

- Sophomore forward Melissa Menta attempted four shots, landing one on goal.

- Freshman forward Mckennah Spagnola landed two out of three shots on net for the Violets.
