Women's Volleyball Splits at Endicott Invitational

Violets Fall to Roger Williams, Defeat SUNY Canton

The New York University women's volleyball team split its two matches on the first day of competition at the Endicott Invitational in Beverly, MA, on Friday September 5.

After dropping their first match to Roger Williams University 25-15, 14-25, 25-21, 25-13, the Violets (4-2) rebounded to beat SUNY Canton in four sets (25-14, 25-19, 15-25, 25-20).

Roger Williams Match:

- Nicole Frias led NYU with a match-high 12 kills. 

- MaTia Hughes was tops in the match with 22 digs.

- Katie Robinson also had double-digit digs with 15 while compiling 31 assists,

"We underachieved in that first match and never caught our stride," Head Coach Jolie Ward explained.

Two Violet regulars, Allie Williams and Emily Moore, were unavailable for the match.

SUNY Canton Match:

- Robinson totaled a career-high 45 assists.

- Gigi Morally and Rayne Ellis each notched a match-high 12 kills.

- Hughes again led all players with 33 digs.

"We had better chemistry on the court in the second match," Ward added. "And, we had strong contributions by some of our new players." 

The Violets return to action on Saturday when they face Bowdoin College at 12pm and UMass Boston at 4pm.
