Box ScoreThe New York University women's volleyball team defeated SUNY Potsdam on the second day of competition at the Violet Classic at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan on Saturday, September 20.
The match went four sets, resulting in a victory for the Violets (25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-15).
NYU (11-5) started off strong, winning the first two sets. However, in the third set Head Coach
Jolie Ward used her bench liberally and Potsdam (5-8) was able pull out its lone victory.
In the final set, Ward went back to her veteran players who pulled through to secure the match victory.

Nicole Frias had an outstanding weekend. Her offense led the way in all three matches, especially today," Ward said. "
Allie Williams provided strong defense from the front line, and
Katie Robinson is becomign productive and securing a spot as the outside hitter."
Highlights:- Frias was named Most Outstanding Player of the Classic.

Gigi Morally led the front row with eight kills each for the Violets.

Emily Moore set 14 assists for the team.

MaTia Hughes, who was named to the Violet All-Classic Team, dug 16 balls from the back row.
The Violets return to action at the Stevens Invitational, hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, next Friday and Saturday, September 26-27. The Violets will face Ramapo College and the United States Coast Guard Academy on Friday, and Richard Stockton College and Brooklyn College on Saturday.
