Women's Volleyball Defeats Union College

Violets Advance to Championship Match of Labor Day Invitational

Moore helped lead the Violet attack.

The New York University women's volleyball team defeated Union College in three sets on Saturday, August 30, and have advanced to the Championship Match of the NYU Labor Day Invitational at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets (3-0) were never serious threatened by the Dutchwomen (2-1) in their straight-set victory (25-15, 25-16, 25-21).

The victory secured first place in Pool "A" with the win and will now face North Central College in the Championship Match at 3:30pm on Saturday. The Cardinals went 3-0 in Pool "B".

"This is the start of the season, and obviously we want to start well," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. "These kinds of matches will help prepare us for the season ahead."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Katie Robinson posted a triple-double for NYU with 15 assists, 12 digs and 11 kills.,She also had a service ace.

- MaTia Hughes (21) and Josie Luck (10) also had double-digit digs. Kat Moeller led Union with 19 digs.

- Emily Moore returned to speed after suffering an injury and helped run the Violet offense with a match-high 23 assists.

"Having Emily back at full speed puts us in a better position," Ward explained. "When she's at full throttle she allows us to run a faster offense."
