Women's Volleyball Falls to North Central

Violets Suffer Five-Set Loss in Final Match of Labor Day Invitational

The New York University women's volleyball team lost a close match to North Central College on Saturday, August 30, in the Championship Match of the NYU Labor Day Invitational at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets (3-1) took a 2-1 lead over the Cardinals (4-0), but could not sustain the advantage.

NYU started off well, winning the first set 25-22. The Violets lost the second set 25-20, but came back in the third to beat the Cardinals 25-22. However, NYU lost the fourth set 25-15 and the fifth set 15-5.


HIGHLIGHTS:

- Kacy Guajardo posted a career-high 12 kills, while Gigi Morally put away 11.

- Katie Robinson posted a double-double with 28 assists and 13 digs, also putting up four kills.

- MaTia Hughes (22) and Josie Luck (13) also had double-digit digs. Luck added eight kills.

- Both Robinson and Hughes were named to the All-Invitational Team.

The Violets return to action at the Endicott Invitational in Beverly, MA, next weekend. Their first match is against Roger Williams University at 5pm on Friday, September 5.
