Violets Open 2014 Campaign at Cougar Classic

NYU Head Coach Michelle Canning returns for her fourth season.

The New York University women's soccer team kicks off its 2014 season on Friday, August 29, when the Violets travel to Union, NJ, to participate in the Cougar Classic hosted by Kean University.

The Violets will play their season opener against Richard Stockton College on Friday and will also compete against the host Kean Cougars on Saturday afternoon. Friday's match is set to begin at 1pm, while Saturday's match gets underway at 3pm.

NYU is coming off a 2013 season in which it finished 7-8-3 overall and 0-5-2 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.

The Violets are led by fourth-year Head Coach Michelle Canning, who has compiled a 31-21-4 overall record while also leading the Violets to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Championship in 2011.

NYU will be on the road for six of its first eight games. The Violets are set to open their home slate on Saturday, September 13, against Vassar College at 8pm at Gaelic Park on the campus of Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY.
