NYU 0 Brandeis 0 (2OT)The New York University women's soccer team closed out its season with a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Senior Day against Brandeis University at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, on Saturday, November 8.
The Violets (11-5-2, 3-2-2 University Athletic Association) played a gritty season finale vs. the Judges (12-4-2, 2-3-2 UAA) and finished in third place in the UAA standings. It is the best finish for NYU during Head Coach
Michele Canning's tenure.
"I think it was a really hard-fought game on both sides of the ball, and the energy was exciting," said Canning. "I'm really proud of how competitive the girls were throughout the 110 minutes."
NYU was led by
Cassie Steinberg, who recorded a career-best 12 saves in net. The sophomore keeper's previous best was eight, which she registered twice before in her career.
"Cassie had some really key moments in the game and I feel really proud of her because she has put so much effort into maturing as a goalkeeper. She really showed it today," said Canning.
The Violets also bid farewell to its eight graduating seniors,

Cami Crawford,
Taylor Francoeur,
Amelia Hammerl,
Phebe Miller,
Meg Patten, and
Claire Shanahan.
"I am so grateful to the seniors for everything that they have brought to the program," said Canning. "This is the highest finish in the UAA since I've been here, and they wre all a huge part of that."
HIGHLIGHTS:- Hammerl led NYU offensively, notching a game-high four shots on net.

Olivia Braender-Carr recorded the Violets' other shot on goal.
- Brandeis outshot NYU 19-12, including 12-5 on goal.
Following the completion of their regular season, the Violets now await their postseason selection, which will be announced on Monday, November 10. NYU will be looking for a bid to either the NCAA Division III Tournament or the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship.
