Rochester Box ScoreEmory Box ScoreThe New York University women's volleyball team faced the University of Rochester and Emory University on the first day of University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 competition, hosted by the University of Chicago, on Saturday, October 18, in Chicago, IL.In the first match, the Violets swept Rochester (11-16, 0-5 UAA) in straight sets (25-21, 25-16, 25-14).In their next match, NYU (17-9, 2-3 UAA) was swept by Emory (25-20, 25-18, 25-20)."We have to remember that these teams we face in the UAA are among the best teams in all of Division III," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. Emory is currently ranked #3 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll. "The fact that we are able to battle against these types of teams teams demonstrates the overall ability we possess."Rochester Match Highlights:-
Katie Robinson recorded a match-high 13 kills and added 11 digs.
- Josie Luck contributed eight kills and eight digs.
- MaTia Hughes had a match-high 17 digs.
- Ashley Toth (14) and Emily Moore (12) had double-digit assists for the Violets.Emory Match Highlights:
- Luck led the team with five kills and nine digs.- Nicole Frias recorded four blocks.- Six different Violets had at least three kills.
"I think we've shown that we have many of the pieces needed to be a top team," Ward added. "We are just looking to find a way to complete the puzzle."
NYU returns to the University of Chicago, tomorrow, to face Carnegie Mellon University at 12:00 pm, and Case Western Reserve University at 2:00 pm to complete the weekend competition.
