The New York University women's volleyball team went 2-0 at the Stevens Tech Invitational on Friday, September 27, in Hoboken, NJ. The Violets began the day with a dominant win over Brooklyn College, 3-0, and finished it with a statement victory over the vaunted host, Stevens Tech, 3-1.

In its second match of the day, NYU took down the Ducks in four sets (25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20), thus avenging its only loss of the season to this point. The Violets were led by Alexandria Mao and Nicole Frias, as the two seniors had 13 and 11 kills, respectively.

Earlier in the day the team matched up with the Bulldogs. NYU cruised to the victory, taking the match in straight sets, 25-6, 25-11, 25-13. Sixteen players saw action in the contest, while Katie Robinson led the way with 10 kills.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Robinson added 14 assists to her 10 kills in the first match against Brooklyn.

- Emily Moore led NYU against the Bulldogs with 17 assists.

- Moore was all over the floor in the match against Stevens, dishing out 42 assists.

"This was a highly anticipated match and we knew that it was going to be a fight to the finish; that's exactly what it was," said Head Coach Jolie Ward. "They did not let us come in here and take the game easily. We knew that we had to come in with the intention and desire to win, and we were able to put that on the court and execute it."

The Violets will be back in Hoboken on Saturday, September 28, for Day Two of the Stevens Invitational. They will face Susquehanna University at 1:00 PM and then The City College of New York at 3:00 PM.
