Women's Volleyball Wins Again at Home

Violets Remain Undefeated in Coles This Season

The New York University women's volleyball team increased its undefeated home record to 8-0 with a win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday, September 25, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
 
The squad also extended its win streak to a season-best nine matches. NYU (12-1) made quick work of USMMA (8-3), winning in straight sets by a score of 25-15, 25-22, 25-19.
 
Highlights:
 
- Alexandria Mao led the Violets with 14 kills and 13 digs.
 
- Gigi Morally was the only other Violet with double-digit kills. She had 10.
 
- Both middle blockers Allie Williams and Nicole Frias had an efficient hitting night with equal .273 attack percentages. They combined for nine kills on 22 attacks with just three errors.
 
- Emily Moore doled out 35 assists on 101 sets.
 
- NYU out-killed USMMA 40-24.
 
- Cassidy Jourdan made her first start of the season at libero and recorded nine digs.
 
- 14 players saw action for NYU.
 
"This match gave us an opportunity to display how deep our team is," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. "Along with Cassidy making the start at libero we were able to shuffle in Alexandra Nagle and Makayla Stephens at middle blocker, which will be crucial for the success of our team moving forward."
 
The Violets travel to Hoboken, NJ, on Friday, September 27, to compete in the Stevens Invitational. Their first match is against Brooklyn College at 4:00pm.
