Women's Soccer Falls to Bard 1-0

Violets Defeated 1-0 By Late Goal

RESULTS

The New York University women's soccer team fell in a hard-fought 1-0 match to Bard College on Saturday, September 21, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

NYU outshot the Raptors 21-7, but Bard snuck one past freshman goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg with 5:53 remaining in the second half to take the victory. The Violets move to 3-3-1 on the young season.

The team will return to action on September 24 when they host St. Joseph's College at Gaelic Park at 7:00 PM.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Steinberg faced six shots on goal, saving five of them while playing the full 90 minutes.

- Sophomore forward Melissa Menta led the offense for the Violets, taking seven shots with five landing on goal.

- Bard racked up 14 fouls throughout the game, while the Violets had just nine. There we no cards handed out.

- Hallie Nolan, a sophomore midfielder for the Raptors, scored the contest's lone goal. It was her second of the season.
