The New York University women's soccer team kicks off its 2013 season on Saturday, August 31, when it travels to New Paltz, NY, to participate in the New Paltz Michelle Vargas-Robin Memorial Tournament.
NYU will play its opening game against Salve Regina University on Saturday and will also compete against host SUNY New Patz on Sunday. Both contests begin at 1:30 pm.
The Violets are coming off a successful 2012 campaign which saw them finish 10-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
NYU is led by its third-year Head Coach Michelle Canning, who continues to build a strong foundation with her squad. In her first two seasons at the helm, Canning has compiled a 24-13-1 overall record while also leading the Violets to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Championship in 2011.
NYU will play its first five contests on the road before hosting Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in their home-opener on Thursday, September 19.
