The New York University wrestling team performed on the big stage at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, December 1, in Manhattan. However, despite victories from its top two wrestlers, the squad suffered a 25-7 loss to the Stevens Institute of Technology in the second annual "Grapple at the Garden".
NYU's
Brandon Jones, currently ranked #1 at 141 pounds by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), defeated Rick Perrine by major decision 17-6.
Patrick Sheehan, currently ranked #10 at 184 pounds, defeated Tristan Hollenbaug 4-0.
However, those were the only two victories NYU posted in the dual match.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- NYU entered the match ranked #24 by the NWCA, while the Ducks came in at #23.

Corbin Lee lost a tough 3-2 decision, as did heavyweight
Anthony Chu.
- NYU is now 2-2 in dual meets this season.
- Announced attendance for "The Grapple" was 8,851.
"While we certainly didn't perform up to our capabilities, it was a great experience to be competing at Madison Square Graden at such a prestigious event," said Senior Assistant Coach
Corey Luce.
The grapplers return to the mat this Friday, December 6, when they compete at Hunter College at 3:30pm.
