Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 in UAA Finale at Brandeis

The New York University women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision in its regular-season finale at Brandeis University on Saturday, November 9, in Waltham, MA.

The Violets (7-8-3, 0-5-2 UAA) took the early 1-0 lead when junior forward Cami Crawford scored her fourth goal of the season in the 14th minute. The Judges (10-6-2, 2-3-2 UAA) would trail until they capitalized on a free kick from 45 yards out in the 58th minute. Brandeis would score the winner in the 83rd minute on yet another free kick, this one from 25 yards out.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore forward Melissa Menta notched her team-leading fifth assist on Crawford's score and now leads NYU with 19 points on the season. This marks the second straight season the Somers, NY, native has led the Violets in scoring.

- Freshman keeper Cassie Steinberg made five saves during the contest.

- Madeline Stein and Kelly Peterson were the goal-scorers for Brandeis.

NYU finished the regular season at 7-8-3 overall, including a 0-5-2 record during University Athletic Association (UAA) play.
