Women's Soccer Topped by #1 Washington on Senior Day

Violets Bid Farewell to Six Seniors

The New York University women's soccer team fell 4-0 to #1 Washington University in St. Louis on Senior/Family Day on Sunday afternoon, November 3, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

The Violets are now 7-7-3 overall on the season, with a 0-4-2 record in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The top-ranked Bears (16-1-0, 6-0-0) clinched a share of the UAA title with the win, and therefore qualify for the NCAA Championships.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Freshman goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg recorded a career-high eight saves in the contest.

- Junior forward Cami Crawford led the Violets with two shots (one on goal). Senior captain midfielder Imani Ribadeneyra and sophomore defender Maddy Clappin each had one shot as well.

- Four seperate Bears scored during the match.

Today's match was also the second half of the second installment of the Violet Nation Presents: Tear it Up! series. The next event in the series will be on February 7 at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan, NY, when the NYU men's and women's basketball teams host Carnegie Mellon University.

The women's soccer team will finish up regular season play on Saturday, November 9, in Waltham, MA, when it visits Brandeis University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
