Women's Volleyball Splits Day 2 of New York State Challange

The New York University women's volleyball team (26-6, 4-3) split its matches on Saturday, November 2, in Rochester, NY. The squad started off the day by falling to Clarkson University (31-6) in straight sets before topping Rochester Institute of Technology (14-25) in three. 
 
NYU was forced to play 14 team members in the first match as the squad couldn't get into rhythm on offense. The team hit .142 in the match with no players recording double-digit kills as the Violets fell 25-20, 25-14, 25-22.

The Violets bounced back nicely in the second match of the day.  The team played excellent defense, holding RIT to a -.012 hitting percentage. NYU was also efficient on offense, hitting .278 in the contest en route to the 25-18, 25-14, 25-14 victory.
 
NYU vs. Clarkson Highlights-
 
- Alexandria Mao posted a very balanced performance with nine kills and eight digs
 
- Allie Williams hit .417 with six kills and just one error
 
- Perri Goldberg also had six kills
 
- Emily Moore doled out 22 assists and 17 digs
 
- MaTia Hughes had 15 digs
 
NYU vs. RIT Highlights-
 
- Mao had another even performance with eight kills and eight digs
 
- Both Hughes and Cassidy Jordan recorded 10 digs
 
- Williams hit .444 with four kills and zero errors
 
- Moore dished out 29 assists
 
- Sonya Bray added four kills
 
The University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship is the next stop for NYU.  The squad will face Carnegie Mellon in the opening round of the tournament on Friday, November 8. First serve is set for 2:00 pm.
