The New York University wrestling squad won two of its three dual matches at the Metro vs. PA. Duals held at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on Saturday, November 16.
NYU, ranked #19 in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Assoctiation (NWCA) poll, defeated #12 Elizabethtown College 21-18 to start off the afternoon. After topping the Blue Jays, NYU fell to #6 Wilkes University 44-0. NYU closed out its afternoon with a 31-20 victory over host King's.
NYU remained tough against its opponents all afternoon despite giving up six points in every match at 125 pounds as five of the team's top wrestlers were out of the lineup due to injury.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sophomore
Corbin Lee (133 pounds) defeated Elizabethtown's former NCAA qualifier Chad Lammer in a close 4-3 decision.

Patrick Sheehan (184 pounds) defeated #3 Julian Meaney (Elizabethtown) in a huge match for NYU.
- The Elizabethtown match came down to a heavyweight contest, where NYU's senior
Anthony Chu came up big with a 6-1 decision victory.
- Sophomores
Dylan Lojac (157 pounds, 8-7 dec.) and
John Klein (197 pounds, 8-0 maj. dec.), as well as Chu (HWT, pin) all came up with big victories en route to NYU's victory over King's.
"We had a lot of instances where we didn't have our main guys," said Senior Assistant Coach
Corey Luce. "Our other guys stepped up and got the job done, though."
The NYU grapplers will be back on the mat on Sunday, November 24, in Ithaca, NY, at Cornell University for the New York State Collegiate Championships.
