Women's Volleyball Sweeps Day 1 of New York State Challange

The New York University women's volleyball team (24-3, 4-3) won both of its matches on Friday, November 1, in Rochester, NY, at the New York State Challenge. The squad started off the day by defeating Nazareth College in five sets, before dismissing St. Lawrence University in three.
 
NYU vs. Nazareth Highlights-

- Alexandria Mao led the team with 19 kills to go along with her 19 digs.

- MaTia Hughes led the way with 25 digs.

- Perri Goldberg posted a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.

- Emily Moore had a career-best 60 assists to go with 18 digs.

- Nicole Frias had 13 kills and a .435 hitting percentage

NYU vs. St. Lawrence Highlights-

- Mao led the way again with 15 kills

- Frias had another efficent game with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage

- Moore doled out 33 assists

- Hughes once again had 25 digs

"The win against Nazareth was what we needed to refocus and turn it up," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. "That rejuvenated us and let us be more aggressive against St. Lawrence."

The Violets will complete the NYS Challenge on Saturday, November 2, when they take on Clarkson University at 11:00am and Rochester Institute of Technology at 3:00pm.
