Women's Volleyball Set to Compete in UAA Round Robin #2

Violets to Face Two Nationally-Ranked Conference Foes

Sophomore Emily Moore leads the team with 474 assists this season.


The New York University women's volleyball team is set to return to action this weekend for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 in St. Louis, MO, on Saturday and Sunday, October 19-20.
 
NYU (18-2, 2-1) is coming off a 2-1 outing at the UAA Round Robin #1 two weeks ago in Cleveland, OH. The Violets defeated Carnegie Mellon University in straight sets by a score of 25-20, 27-25, 25-18, including an exciting second set in which NYU overcame a 25-24 deficit to take the last three points and a commanding 2-0 set lead.
 
In the Violets' other two matches, the squad defeated host Case Western Reserve University in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 and fell to Emory University, currently ranked #4 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll. The Eagles won in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-13. 
 
This weekend, the Violets will face off against the University of Rochester and Brandeis University, as well as the University of Chicago and Washington University, ranked #19 and #11, respectively, in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll.

The Violets received 17 votes in the poll.

NYU enters the weekend having won 15 of its last 16 matches.

After the weekend, the Violets return to New York for their final home match of the season on Thursday, October 24 against NYU Poly at 7:00 PM. This match will also be the first of the Violet Nation Presents: "Tear it Up" series. All those wearing Violet Nation shirts will receive free giveaways.
