The New York University women's volleyball team won both of its matches in its 2012 road debut, which was played on Saturday, September 8, at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
In their first match, the Violets defeated local rival Stevens Institute of Technology 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17). In their second and final match of the tri-meet, NYU beat host Vassar 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18).

Vera Shulgina recorded a career-high 18 kills in the first match of the day before adding 15 more against Vassar.

Kaylee Schanda tallied 40 digs on the day, with a match-high 22 of them coming against Stevens.

Alexandria Mao recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 18 kills and 12 digs in the first match and 10 kills and 16 digs in the second.

Allie Williams had a very efficient day, as she recorded 16 total kills on just 28 attacks.

Hope Bogle led all players in assists with 73 on the day. She had a match-high 43 assists against Stevens, followed by 30 against Vassar.
“It was our returners that allowed us to have so much success today,” said NYU Head Coach
Jolie Ward. “Vera was great attacking from the outside. Mao's performance lifted our overall team defense and Hope's sets dictated the offense, which allowed us to be victorious today.”
The Violets' next match is Wednesday, September 12, as they host Hunter College at the Coles Sports Center. First serve is set for 6:00 pm.
