The New York University women's volleyball team traveled to Chicago, IL, to kick off University Athletic Association (UAA) play on September 29-30, at the UAA Round Robin #1.
NYU's first conference foe was sixth-ranked Emory Univeristy. The Eagles (16-2) topped the Violets (11-7) in straight sets 25-12, 25-22, 25-11.
The team's next test was against the host school, 14th-ranked University of Chicago. NYU battled Chicago in four action-packed sets before eventually coming up short, falling 25-15, 25-23, 15-25, 25-13.

Alexandria Mao led NYU with 13 kills, seven digs and a .310 hitting percentage.

Kaylee Schanda had 20 digs and two aces in her return to the libero position.

Hope Bogle had seven digs of her own and a team-high 22 assists.

- Schanda recorded a match-high 30 digs.
- Mao recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 14 digs.

Allie Williams was the only other Violet with double-digit kills. She knocked down 10 of her own.

Nicole Frias had the next highest kill totals with five each.
- Bogle doled out 23 of the team's 36 total assists.
“We played well against two nationally ranked teams,” said NYU Head coach
Jolie Ward. “Mao dictated our offensive attack and Schanda opened up a lot of defensive schemes, which will be crucial for us moving forward.”
