Women's Soccer Wins 5-0 at Bard

Violets Up Winning Streak to Three

The New York University women's soccer team won its third straight contest with a 5-0 victory at Bard College on Saturday, September 22, in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
 
Amelia Hammerl had a goal and two assists to lead the way, while Cami Crawford, Melissa Menta, Natalie Beach, and Ashley-Simone McKenzie also all found the back of the net for the Violets (5-2).
 
Highlights
 
- Crawford opened the scoring in the 24th minute. After Menta stole a pass on the attack, she fed Crawford for a shot from 15 yards out.
 
- Menta made it 2-0 just two minutes later, taking a pass from Hammerl and beating the Raptors' (3-5) goalkeeper one-on-one.
 
- Beach added to NYU's lead in the 62nd minute, putting in the rebound after Hammerl's shot struck the crossbar.
 
- McKenzie put the Violets up 4-0 in the 79th minute, burying a shot from 20 yards out after a feed from Hammerl. Hammerl then put the score at the final margin in the 86th minute with a long-range goal of her own.
 
- Meg Patten and Arianna Strome combined for the shutout, with Patten making one save and Strome three, including one from point-blank range. For the game, NYU outshot Bard 22-8.
 
“It was a great effort with a lot of different people playing dangerous soccer and scoring goals,” said Head Coach Michele Canning.
 
The Violets return to action on Tuesday, September 25, for a road contest at the College of Staten Island. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
