The New York University women's volleyball team won the opening match of the NYU Violet Classic with a four-set victory over Wesleyan University on Friday, September 21, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (8-5) came back to secure the victory after dropping the first set to the Cardinals (3-4).

- NYU dropped the first set 20-25, before rebounding to win the next three 25-11, 25-18, 25-12.

Hope Bogle had match highs of 21 assists and five service aces.

Kaylee Schanda led the way with 18 digs while adding four service aces.
- NYU recorded a season-high 17 block assists, with
Allie Williams recording a team-high four.
"We needed to re-arrange things after the first set because we were stagnant. We needed to see some new blood," said NYU Head Coach
Jolie Ward. "We saw some good things from Drew (Kohl) and it was good to have Alexis (Schwartz) back in the line-up. Hopefully, this will spark our players and get them motivated as we move forward."
NYU faces North Park University and then Frostburg State University on the second day of the Violet Classic beginning at 12:00pm on Saturday.
