The New York University women's volleyball team kicked off the RIT Invitational with a win on Friday, September 14, against St. Lawrence University. The Violets topped the Saints in three sets (25-18, 25-12, 25-13). This improved the squad to 5-3 on the season and extended its win steak to four. 
 
NYU's win streak did not last much longer as they faced the host school, Rochester Institute of Technology, in Friday's nightcap. The Tigers defeated the Violets in four sets by a score of 25-19, 18-25, 25-15, 25-19.  NYU now sits at 5-4 on the season with two more matches left to play in the RIT Invitational.
 
NYU v. St. Lawrence Highlights
- NYU's victory was its first straight-set win of the season.

- Jenn Korte hit an impressive .714 with a match-high 10 kills on just 14 attacks.
 
- Hope Bogle and Emily Moore combined for 38 assists, with Bogle leading the way with 25.
 
- Kaylee Schanda anchored the defense with 14 digs. Alexandria Mao rounded out the double-digit dig club with 11 of her own.
 
NYU v. RIT Highlights
- NYU out-attacked RIT 125-116, but struggled with efficiency by hitting just .064 for the match. 
 
- The Violets did hit .296 in the second set, which they won 25-18.

- Mao had 11 kills and nine digs in the final match of the night.
 
- After not playing in the first match of the day, Vera Shulgina filled up the stat sheet with nine kills and 12 digs.

The Violets are set to wrap up the RIT Invitational against St. John Fisher College and Bluffton University on Saturday, September 15. First serve is set for 10:00am.
