Wednesday, October 10, marks the beginning of the 2012-13 Tear It Up! campaign. Students from across the university will gather to watch the women's volleyball team take on local rival Stevens Institute of Technology at 6:30 pm at the Coles Sports Center.
All NYU students in attendance will receive free food and t-shirts. Students should arrive early to take part in all of the festivities.
The event will also serve as a “Dig Pink” fundraiser to benefit the
Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and have them work toward the common goal of making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. The organization's goal is to advance clinical trials, increase compassionate support services and educate communities.
Fans will be encouraged to donate $2 to benefit the Side-Out Foundation. Side-Out contributes the funds raised to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether in the form of research, medical services or compassionate support.
Those either in attendance at the event or following at home are encouraged to use the hashtags #NYUtearitup and #digpink on Twitter.
