The New York University women's volleyball team opened up action at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 with two matches on Saturday, October 18, in Pittsburgh, PA. In the first match of the day, NYU (13-9, 1-4) dropped a tough four-setter to Brandeis University by a score of 25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20. After rallying back and taking the second set, NYU was unable to hold its early lead in the fourth set.
In the final match of the day, NYU fell to the nation's topped-ranked Washington University in St. Louis in straight sets (25-20, 25-14, 25-12). The Violets hung tough in a very competitive first set. However, the Bears' firepower proved to be too much.

Alexandria Mao had eight digs and a team-high 11 kills.

Hope Bogle had 24 assists on a whopping 116 sets.

Kaylee Schanda provided stability in the Violets' depleted back line with 24 digs and 26 receptions.

Allie Williams was effective in the middle with six kills and five total blocks.
NYU vs. Washington Highlights-
- Mao posted a team-high eight kills to go along with eight digs.
- Schanda continued to display great defense with a team-high 19 digs.
- Bogle had an all-around solid match with 13 assists, nine digs and a perfect 1.000 serve percentage.

Perri Goldberg took advantage of a starting opportunity by nailing down seven kills and digging 14 balls.
- NYU served very well with just two errors on 48 serves for an overall serve percentage of .958.
“We struggled to find a consistent line-up that worked for us,” said NYU Head Coach
Jolie Ward. “We are still trying different combinations of players in hopes of finding just that.”
The Violets wrap up the round robin tomorrow, October 14, when they take on Case Western Reserve University at 12:00 pm and the University of Rochester at 2:30 pm.
