Women's Volleyball Wins at Vassar

Violets Defeat Brewers in Four Sets

The New York University women's volleyball team took to the road and defeated the host Vassar College Brewers in four sets on Wednesday, September 21, in Poughkeepsie, NY.

After winning the first set 25-19 and falling in the second 25-20, the Violets went on to record their 10th victory of the season (10-4) by posting 25-22 and 25-9 wins in the final two sets.

Kolby Warren led NYU with 14 kills, while Sarah Buckingham had 12. Hope Bogle ran the offense with a match-high 34 set assists.

Kaylee Schanda recorded a career-high 32 digs for the VIolets, tied for the fourth-highest one-match total in team history.

Alex Mao added 16 digs, nine kills and four service aces. Beth Fionda also had nine kills.

"It was good all-around play by everyone," said head coach Jolie Ward. "Beth had her first start of the season and played a strong match. Kolby played well and Hope dished out a nice match.".

Chloe McGuire led Vassar (6-4) with a match-high 20 kills. Hilary Koenigs added 32 assists.

The Violets return to the court on Friday when they host the NYU Classic. The team's first match is at 4:00pm against Hunter College.
