The New York University women's volleyball team won both of it ts matches at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational on Friday, September 16, in Rochester, NY.

The Violets, now 8-3 this season, swept SUNY Geneseo in three sets (26-24, 26-24, 25-16) and Medaille College in three sets (25-11, 25-18, 25-20) to increase their winning streak to four matches.

In NYU's victory over Geneseo, Sarah Buckingham recorded 16 kills and 15 digs, while Jenn Korte added 14 kills. Hope Bogle led the way with 29 set assists and Kaylee Schanda had 28 digs.

"Jenn played outside for us in this match, the third position she has played for us this season," said head coach Jolie Ward. "She did an excellent job of filling the outside while our primary outsides, Alex (Mao) and Perri (Goldberg), were unavailable and arrived late due to their class schedules.

"Overall, the team played well and maintained the game plan even when pressure was developing at the end of sets."

It was the second win for NYU over the Knights this season, as the Violets also posted a 3-0 sweep over Geneseo at the season-opening NYU Labor Day Invitational.

In the second match, Buckingham (14) and Mao (10) recorded double-digit kills, while Bogle again led the way with 24 assists.

Mao was high with 13 digs and Allie Williams recorded a match-high six blocks.

"We focused and played our game. We set and stuck to our game plan," Ward said. "We produced points when needed and played a solid all-around game."

The Violets return to action on Saturday at noon and will face Trine University before playing host RIT at 4:00 pm.
