The New York University women's volleyball team dropped the first set, but came back to win the next three en route to victory over the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, October 5, in Hoboken, NJ.

After losing a tough first set by a score of 26-24, NYU (14-8) roared back to sweep Stevens (11-13) in the next three: 26-9, 25-20, 27-25.

"We got off to a slow start, but then we caught our groove," said NYU head coach Jolie Ward.

In an all-around solid effort, four Violets recorded double-digit kills. Jenn Korte, Alex Mao and Kolby Warren each had 11, while Sarah Buckingham added 10.

Kaylee Schanda led the defense with a match-high 16 digs, while Buckingham had 11.

Hope Bogle set up the offense with a match-best 37 assists. She contributed on defense, as well, with nine digs.

NYU also excelled on their serves, with Warren (6), Mao (5) and Bogle (4) all contributing in that department.

"We had exceptionally strong serving as a team," Ward explained.

Maggie Kowalska led the Ducks with 10 digs, while Samantha Gates added 19 assists and eight digs.

The Violets are off until they compete at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #2 at the University of Rochester on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16.
