New York University's women's swimming & diving team completed their second meet, the Rochester Quad, on Saturday, October 29. The meet was held at the University of Rochester's Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center in Rochester, NY, and the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.

The Violets defeated Case Western Reserve University (208-162), but were beaten by Carnegie Mellon University (215-153) and host Rochester (204-166).

NYU had numerous strong performances on Saturday, including wins by freshman Silke Herold and sophomore Nina Rusiewski. Herold won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.66, while Rusiewski won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.91.

Senior Megan Rappa also had a solid 400-yard IM, coming in a close second with a time of 4:45.50.

"With the UAA schools there, it was a very high energy, competitive meet," said acting head coach Kacey McCaffrey, "We've definitely created some rivalries."

The team also had another strong finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Kristen Fujii, Diana De Los Santos, Nicole Elgamal, and Therese Vainius placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:56.90.

Diving also had a very successful weekend with senior Kelly Dietz winning both the one-meter and three-meter dives. Her scores were 243.35 and 233.05, respectively.

"For where we are at this time of year, the divers did a really good job," said diving coach Scott Donie. "Kelly is off to a great start this season."

The Violets will get back in the pool on November 12 at Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
