The New York University women's volleyball team lost both of its matches on the second day of competition at the University Athletic Association Round Robin #2, which was held at the University of Rochester on Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16.

The Violets were swept by the University of Chicago, ranked #16 in the nation in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, by scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-12 in their first match. Then, after taking the first set from Case Western Reserve University, NYU ultimately fell to the Spartans 23-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-12.

Alex Mao led NYU (16-10, 2-5 UAA) in the first tilt with a match-high 10 kills. She also contributed seven digs, one block and a service ace. Kaylee Schanda had 11 digs for the Violets, while Laurie Goodman was team high with 13 set assists.

"Alex stayed aggressive and tried to keep us in the match," said NYU head coach Jolie Ward. "Otherwise, it was pretty much a disaster."

Nikki DelZenero led Chicago (23-3, 5-2) with 31 assists.

In the second match, Allie Williams (14) and Kolby Warren each totaled double-digit kills. Schanda recorded 27 digs, while Mao added  17 digs and six kills.

Bogle contributed a team-high 40 assists.

"Allie played a great match," Ward said. "She was on fire."

Tricia McCutchan  led Case Western Reserve (18-8, 4-3) with a match-high 17 digs.

"Tough day for us," said NYU head coach Jolie Ward. "We just did not keep pace with our opponents."

The Violets return to action next weekend when they travel to California for three matches, beginning with a 7:30pm (pst) contest against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
