Steve Massey was NYU's only winner as the wrestling team fell to Johns Hopkins University 40-3 in Baltimore, MD, on Wednesday, January 5.
Wrestling at 197 pounds, Massey shut out his opponent, Ben Finelli, by a score of 6-0.
In the prior bout, 184-pounder Sabino Galassi gave a strong effort before falling 4-2 to Patrick Stanley.
Due to injuries, NYU was forced to forfeit three bouts: 149, 174 and heavyweight.
"We were undermanned, but still gave it our best," said assistant coach Shawn Swift. "We don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves, either, because we're getting right back into action this weekend."
With the loss, NYU fell to 1-4 in dual meets this season.
The wrestlers return to action this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 7-8, when they compete at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, VA.
