Rebecca Assing helped set up two of New York University's three goals as the Violets outshot DeSales University 30-8 en route to a 3-0 non-conference women's soccer victory Sunday at the College of Staten Island Soccer Complex.
NYU (6-1) made frequent runs up the flanks from the start, scoring its earliest goal of the season when Filiz Kipcakli blasted a pass from Assing into the top right corner 3:30 into the contest.
DeSales (2-6) found ways to contain the Violets in the final third until the 63:00 mark, when Erica Jones and Assing connected quick passes to set up Laura Palumbo at the goalmouth to make it 2-0. # Julia Kaufman#'s first collegiate tally at 75:22, off Monica Arnold's first collegiate helper, ensured that the Violets would extend their win streak to six.
"We definitely deserved those goals," NYU head coach Werner T. Dasbach said. "Our movement going forward was good. It was just a matter of getting the ball on frame in the final third and we did that. What's great is that a lot of players were involved in all of the goals."
Melissa Millili played well between the posts for the Bulldogs, making 14 saves. Tori Kinek led DeSales with two shots on goal.
Rachael Ross improved to 4-1 after making three saves in the first 45 minutes. Alex Walters stopped one second-half shot in relief.
NYU is off until Friday, Sept. 25, when it travels to Wilkes University for a 3 p.m. tilt.
