During their four-game winning streak, the Violets (4-1) have captured three consecutive one-goal victories. Their latest, a 2-1 comeback against Allegheny College, helped them win their second-straight Stevens Institute of Technology Engineering Cup title last Sunday. Erica Jones scored her first two collegiate goals at Stevens Tech and assisted on the game-winning goal against Allegheny to earn Offensive MVP honors.
Defensively, Katie Gaston scored her first collegiate goal last weekend and spearheaded a stellar effort along the backline with help from Cait Kilpatrick, Tara Kiernan and Marie Tosa. Alex Walters picked up her first victory of the season by making four second-half saves against Allegheny, including two on acrobatic plays.
Vassar (3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 triumph over Stevens Tech on Wednesday thanks to Allison McManis' tally with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.
