Women's Volleyball Sweeps Through the RIT Invitational

Freshman Mina Baban earned All-Tournament Most Valuable Player honors as the New York University women's volleyball team swept Nazareth College on its way to the RIT Tournament Championship, Saturday, September 13, in Rochester, NY.

The Violets (10-2), who did not drop a single set all weekend, defeated the Golden Flyers (5-4) 25-19, 25-13, 25-20 for their fifth RIT Tournament crown in the past six years.

Another NYU All-Tournament Team member, sophomore Erin Noonan, took control of the game on offense, putting down a team-high nine kills while adding three blocks.

Baban continued her impressive weekend, putting up 23 assists in the three sets while adding a team-high 13 digs for her second double-double of the weekend.

Freshman Elizabeth Dick also continued her strong play, tallying six kills along with nine digs.

For the Golden Flyers, junior Carra Vanderstyne put down a match-high 10 kills with fellow junior Mallorie Clary put up a team-high 12 digs.

The Violets return to action this Wednesday when they host Vassar College.  First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
