A first-half penalty kick proved the difference as the New York University women's soccer team saw its eight-game win streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to William Paterson University in non-conference action Wednesday in Wayne, NJ.

Sophomore Alex Walters made six saves between the pipes for the Violets (8-3-0), but the Pioneers (9-0-1) remained undefeated thanks to the conversion of a penalty kick at 29:35 by All-America candidate Amanda Kurdyla.

Both teams possessed other chances, but William Paterson owned a 9-6 edge on shots and a 10-7 edge on corner kicks.  Meghan Baker recorded four saves to preserve the shutout.

NYU will return to action Saturday, Oct. 11, when it hosts University Athletic Association (UAA) rival the University of Rochester at 11:00 a.m. at Manhattan College's Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.  The game will open a UAA doubleheader that will commence with the NYU-Rochester men's tilt at 1:30 p.m.
