The New York University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in its third match of the NYU Violet Classic on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (16-7) played the Warhawks (17-6) tough through the first two sets, taking early leads in both. However, NYU could not hold the advantage falling 25-20, 25-19.
In the third set Whitewater took over, jumping out to an early 10-5 advantage and never looking back on its way to a 25-15 win.
On offense, junior
Jess Storer recorded six kills while freshman
Elizabeth Dick added five more.
Freshman
Britney Messier led all players on defense with 11 digs.
For the Warhawks, sophomore Caitlin Hogan led the team with nine kills, while freshman Alyssa Bauer notched 10 digs.
The Violets return to action this afternoon at 2:00 pm when they take on SUNY New Paltz for their final match of the NYU Violet Classic.
