Diana King of the New York University softball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the week on Monday, April 17.
King helped lead NYU to four wins in six games last week, including three against UAA-foe Brandeis University. The sophomore recorded 11 hits in 20 at bats (.550 avg.) and hit three home runs over the course of the week, including two in a 6-3 victory over Brandeis on Friday. King also scored 11 runs and drove in seven while successfully swiping five stolen bases in five attempts.
The Rye, NY, native, who was honored as the Association's hitter of the week, also picked up a victory in the circle after tossing a complete game in a 9-4 win against the Judges.
This is the first-career weekly honor for King.
King and the Violets return to action on Tuesday, April 18, when they take on local-rival Hunter College in a doubleheader. First pitch of game one against the Hawks is slated for 4pm on Randall's Island.
