ECAC ReleaseChase Klein of the New York University men's volleyball team, which is currently ranked
#15 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 15.
The outside hitter led the Violets to a 2-2 record last week, totaling 54 kills and playing in all 17 sets for NYU.
Klein began the week with a match-best 12 kills, three service aces, three digs, and a block as the Violets took down York College (NY) in three sets on Wednesday, March 9, at home. In a pair of tough losses on Saturday, March 12, which saw NYU take #3 Carthage College and #8 Stevenson University to five sets each, he totaled 27 kills and 14 digs. The 6-foot-2 junior recorded 13 kills, six digs, and a block against the Red Men, and notched 14 kills, eight digs, three assists, one service ace, and a block against the Mustangs.
Klein finished the week on Sunday, March 13, with a team-leading 15 kills, five digs and two blocks as the Violets defeated #10 Milwaukee School of Engineering in four sets.
This is the first ECAC weekly honor of Klein's career.
Klein and the rest of the team will return to action tonight, Tuesday, when the Violets visit #13 Dominican University (IL) in non-conference play. First serve in River Forest, IL, is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
