Women's ReleaseFour members of the New York University men's and women's swimming & diving teams were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Wednesday, January 21.,
Austen Blease,
Chad Moody,
Austin Campitelli, and
Isabelle Kitze were recognized for their performances against Springfield College on Saturday, January 17.,
The men's squad, ranked #8 in the most recent College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, defeated Springfield 202.5-91.5, while the #5 NYU women defeated the Pride 187-108.Blease and Campitelli were each named Diver of the Week, while Moody and Kitze were each honored honored as Rookie of the Week.
Blease recorded a one-meter score of 326.75 at Springfield. The senior followed that up with a three-meter score of 324.65 to sweep the men's diving competition. Moody won the,
100-yard backstroke (53.04) and was also a member of the first-place 400-yard medley relay (3:33.00).
Campitelli swept the diving events for the NYU women's team. She won the,one- and three-meter diving competitions with scores of 275.25 and 267.95, respectively. Kitze,placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.22) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.68), and was also a member of the first-place 400-yard medley relay (4:02.70).,This is the second ECAC weekly honor of the season for Blease, Campitelli and Kitze. Blease now has three for his career, while Campitelli and Kitze each have two. This is the first-career ECAC weekly honor for Moody.
The men's team will next compete on Friday, January 23, at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. Both NYU teams will host Iona College on Saturday, January 24, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan. Saturday will also be NYU's Family and Senior Day, with diving events beginning at 11:30 am followed by swimming at 1:00 pm.
