Austen Blease and freshman
Austin Campitelli of the New York University men's and women's swimming & diving teams, respectively, were recognized as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday, January 19.
Blease and Campitelli swept their respective diving competitions and helped lead both squads to
victory over Springfield College on Saturday, January 17, in Springfield, MA. Blease recorded a one-meter score of 326.75 and a three-meter score of 324.65 for the men, while Campitelli totaled,275.25 in the one meter and 267.95 in the three meter for the women.
"Springfield has one of the best diving programs in the country," said NYU Diving Coach
Scott Donie. "To come in here and sweep every event is a great accomplishment."
This is the fifth UAA weekly honor of the season for Blease, as well as the 16th of his career. It is Campitelli's third UAA honor of the season and career.
The men's team will next compete on Friday, January 23, against host United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. Both NYU teams will host Iona College on Saturday, January 24, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan. Saturday will also be NYU's Family Day and Senior Day.
